PREVIOUS THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY
September 18th to 22nd
MONDAY SEPTEMBER 18
Saturn and Mars right angle
For a few days now, Saturn and Mars have been forming a right angle to one another. When planets are at right angles, people tend to see things from the wrong angle. Tense developments occur in people's lives... and on the world stage. This is especially true when the angle involves heavyweight planets like Saturn and Mars. Pluto and Jupiter are also now, in a state of tense disagreement, so we've got a fair amount of stress in the sky at the moment. Most of us though, should find that things ease off, rather than get worse, over the next few days.
TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 19
William Herschel
For thousands of years, people were very sure of two things. 1) That human beings would never be able to fly and 2) That there were only five planets (plus the Sun and Moon). In 1781, William Herschel discovered the planet that we now call Uranus. Around the same time, two French brothers were experimenting with a hot air balloon. On this day in 1783, they sent up their first passengers; a duck, a rooster and a sheep. Less than two years after we changed our view of what the sky contains, we were on our way up into it!
WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 20
Bob Geldof and Tiger Lily
I have never met Bob Geldof. Right now though, my thoughts are with him and with his daughters. I know, from my own experience, what they need. Not weeks, not months but years of continuity, routine, familiarity and stability. As much as can possibly be created under the circumstances. This of course, is exactly what little Tiger Lily needs too. Who better to provide this than her sisters? What better healing process for them, than to help look after her? How can anything else in the world be as good as the current arrangement?
THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 21
The Wish Fulfilling Jewel
Special note of apology to website browsers and email subscribers. I am very sorry that on Saturday and again on Tuesday, some people were unable to access their forecasts. I was intending to have the offending operative in our organisation lined up against a wall and flogged, until I realised that actually, it was my own fault. I inadvertently pressed the wrong button on my computer. I faithfully promise that this will never happen again... if I can possibly help it.
Earlier this year, I told you about my friend, Chimmi; an exiled Tibetan monk who lives in Delhi. I explained how his spiritual path involves a tradition known as "The Wish Fulfilling Jewel." The Dalai Lama has now told all Tibetans to abandon this practice. Most have complied. Some though, like my friend, simply cannot do so. Their ancient cherished belief means to much to them. This should be a trivial matter; a minor difference of religious opinion. It seems to be turning, though, into a brutal conflict. More on this tomorrow.
FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 22
Dalai Lama
When the Chinese invaded Tibet, forty years ago, they didn't just destroy priceless, historic temples. They disturbed the last hiding place of an ancient secret. High Tibetans, it has long been claimed, know how to reach a state of enhanced awareness. In such a state, they can accomplish amazing feats of mind over matter. When the Dalai Lama was forced to flee his homeland, the guardians of such knowledge went into exile with him. So what has happened to them? Why have Tibetans begun to fight, violently, over minor differences of belief? The answer may have consequences for us all... as I shall explain next week.
