PREVIOUS THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY
January 1st to January 4th 2003
MONDAY JANUARY 1
Giving up and taking up
What are you planning to give up this year? And what are you planning to take up? If you're not quite feeling ready to begin your new regime, don't worry too much. The Moon is just about to become new. It will be a few days before we see a tiny toenail clipping of light in the sky once more... but as soon as we do, we will find it much easier to start afresh. We don't often get a new moon quite this close to a new year... so if you DO have a resolution, nurture it quietly, privately till the weekend. And THEN make your commitment to it.
TUESDAY JANUARY 2
Acquired taste
How are you enjoying the story so far? 2003 has a rather interesting, unusual flavour. For many of us, it may turn out to be something of an acquired taste. But, then, often the things that we have to "learn to like" are the things that we end up liking best of all. Olives, for example - or strong cheese - even spinach. Remember please, that the Moon is not yet new - and that the year (from a cosmic point of view) has not really begun. If you are determined to change something - or to do things differently in the next twelve months, don't worry about how difficicult or daunting this seems. By the weekend, it will all start to look (and feel) a bit easier.
WEDNESDAY JANUARY 3
The New Year starts HERE!
If you are managing to keep up your resolution so far, well done! If not, and you regret this, remake it over the next couple of days because, from an astrological point of view, the New Year starts here! Towards the end of the weekend, if you look for the Moon, you should see a tiny shape in the sky. That's the symbol of hope that you need to be pinning your wishes on. As you watch it grow, over the next couple of weeks, let your dreams and aspirations grow with it. And let your resolve grow and strengthen too. THURSDAY JANUARY 4
Happy Birthday to...
Happy Birthday! David Bowie Capricorn b January 8, 1947 "Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon 'em." So said Shakespeare. But he might have added - "and some are Capricorns, so all three things apply!" Capricorns, famously, improve with time, just like fine wines. David Bowie who turns 55 on Wednesday, is a case in point. Happy birthday also this week to: Michael Stipe (42) today, Diane Keaton (56) tomorrow, Kapil Dev (43), Terry Venables (58) and Rowan Atkinson (47) on Monday, and Rod Stewart (57) on Friday.
