Saturn and Mars comment
Saturn and Mars meet up in the sky only once every two years or so. They are in alignment now - which is why there's such a 'businesslike' mood in the air. Mars, planet of energy and aggression, pushes things along and causes people to become full of purpose. Saturn, planet of responsibility, causes us all to contemplate our limitations and restrictions, to remember our allegiances and to face our fears. Mars now 'energises' Saturn, causing many people to become more mature, even wise in their attitude. And Saturn tempers Mars, inspiring moderation in areas where extremism usually triumphs.

Venus Vanishing by Bernard Fitzwalter
If you've been looking at Venus over the past few weeks you will also have seen that she is much lower in the skies these days, and a lot further over to the north-west when she sets. In fact the movement downwards and north-westwards have been going on all the time, but somehow it seems much more noticeable when the planet is close to the horizon. This is because objects on the horizon - houses, street lights, and so on - give us a reference point against which to judge the planet's position. This is also the reason why a full moon low in the sky seems much bigger than a high one, when in fact they are the same size. If you look for Venus each night over the next week or so, just after sunset, she will appear lower and lower each day, only visible for a short time before sinking below the horizon. From our point of view, the sun and Venus are actually moving towards each other, reducing the distance between them every day, so that each night as the sun sets, there is less time for Venus to be visible on her own. Eventually what will happen, on June 8th, is that Venus will appear to pass in front of the sun, as their paths cross. This rare event is called a transit, and Jonathan will have more to say on the astrological significance of this nearer the time. Although the close alignment of the sun and Venus is usually considered a good thing by modern astrologers, ancient skywatchers weren't so sure. When we reach the stage at the end of next week where Venus is so low that she is lost in the glow of sunset, and thus invisible despite being above the horizon, she becomes first what traditional astrological lore calls 'under sunbeams', and then 'combust', which means 'burnt up' . The idea is that the sun is so strong that Venus' light and influence cannot get through to us, and therefore the good fortune we might expect from her cannot be counted on until she has moved away from the sun and is clearly visible again. Interesting way of thinking, isn't it? Site Update: The Dream Doctor interprets another dream plus announces details of her new book Healing Dreams - click here.
