TUESDAY January 2 ... and a Happy New Year Happy New Year. That's not a hopeful greeting, that's a proper astrologer's prediction. There will be happiness this year, despite all that irks and upsets us all. We may see no immediate end to conflict and hatred, to the challenge of climate change, to the risk of economic upheaval, to injustice and inequality, to hunger and poverty or to illness and deprivation... But we will see more signs than ever before of a genuine desire - in the hearts and minds of millions of people - to do something constructive about these matters. And we will see some real results, too. |
WEDNESDAY January 3 The First Full Moon of 2007 Are some full moons really more beautiful than others? Or is beauty in the eye of the beholder? I have stared at many full moons in my time but there was something quite stunning about the one I saw rising over York yesterday afternoon. Though the Moon will look full this evening too, it will be officially 'past full' by the time we get to see it tonight. To be on the safe side, I'd be inclined to let a couple more days pass... but by the weekend, 2007 should be just about ready to properly begin. |
THURSDAY January 4 A notable year.... People keep asking if this will be a 'good year'. I'll answer that in more detail next week, but I must stress there's no such thing as a year that's 'all good' or 'all bad'. Ups and downs are inevitable... and essential. Without shade, we cannot appreciate light. Without an occasional experience of sadness, joy is just a state of 'feeling OK'. What makes 2007 notable is neither its great moments nor its challenging times... but the fact that it is a year during which more people than ever will come to prefer depth and subtlety to glib superficiality. |
FRIDAY January 5 The Power of Pluto Ever since astronomers 'demoted' Pluto, astrologers have been wrestling with a dilemma. Astrologers are supposed to respect the judgement of astronomers but we also know that Pluto is vitally important. It governs deep-rooted transformation - the kind that occurs when people inwardly awaken to a new understanding about life. This year, Pluto makes the most important alignment it has formed since its discovery. The alignment lasts all year. By the end of 2007, academics may remain just as unwilling to concede the power of Pluto... but the rest of us will have seen more than enough to be convinced. |
SATURDAY January 6 No Thought for the Day No Thought for the Day |
SUNDAY January 8 The Galactic Centre Your January Forecast: Many people think the Sun stands still while the planets move around it. Not so. The Sun itself is slowly orbiting a mysterious point in the Milky Way that we call The Galactic Centre. The Galactic Centre aligns with a part of the zodiac near the end of Sagittarius. Mars is now in Sagittarius. It is travelling quite fast and, in mid-January, will pass the Galactic Centre. As it does, it will pass Pluto which, intriguingly, is hanging around this part of the sky all year. January will be an exceptional month during which many of us may yet have a once-in-a-lifetime, 'out of this world' experience! |
