Dark Side of the Moon
|
The Moon is only ever full when it is directly opposite the Sun in the zodiac. As the Sun is now in the sign of the bull, the Moon becomes full in the opposite sign to Taurus: Scorpio. Full Moons are tense. Full Moons are dramatic. Full Moons bring simmering sagas to a head and often cause secrets to be revealed. Somehow they 'reconcile opposites'. When light (Sun) is opposite dark (Moon), dark becomes light. From observing this, astrologers have extrapolated the idea that at Full Moon it's so much harder to hide passions, disguise desires and suppress secrets.

Stir it Up!
|
All Full Moons are powerful and intense. But astrologers have noticed that they can be powerful and intense in different ways, depending on what sign they are in. The Moon we all saw growing full last night was in Scorpio. Scorpios are most likely to be sensitive to this influence, but we all have a little Scorpio in us somewhere. Wherever we've got a strong emotion, an intense longing, a need for privacy, a hurt that won't quite heal or a love for something or someone so strong it almost aches, we're likely today to be feeling stirred up.

Wane Moony
|
The Moon is no longer full. But it's bright and round enough to look full. And it is strong enough to feel full. How have the past couple of days been for you? What issues have they given rise to? What raw nerves have they touched? No matter what sign you are, you can now look on the next 27 days or so as a journey. If you've got hopes, they can come further to fruition between now and the next Full Moon. If you've got fears, you've got a chance to overcome them in much the same time.

High Flyers
|
Dear Jonathan,
I once read that the artists who created those huge Nazca Lines in Peru did so after taking something derived from the local cactus which let them see from above. SK Dear Jonathan... What if they harnessed giant condors somehow and flew that way? Neville
Dear Jonathan, I think Peruvian shamans mixed herbs and use them for journeying, which included an out-of-body experience where they could fly and see from above the earth. David
Dear All,
Who can say... but if any of these are true, it adds a whole new meaning to the phrase 'getting high'.

Not at Large
|
Dear Mr Cainer,
Some years ago you said that Saddam would be captured but Osama would remain at large forever. Jack
Hi Jonathan,
A friend who has been an astrologer for 40 years insists Osama Bin Laden was not killed and that it is all a plot by the US Government. I told her I could not believe that. Would you please send me a note telling me that he is or isn't dead? Karen
Dear Jack,
Forever? If that's really what I said, I was wrong!
Dear Karen,
Still alive? If that's really what she said, she was wrong!

Your Week Ahead
|
In the old days, astrological alignments were considered 'benign' or 'malefic', good or evil, positive or negative. This didn't leave much room for free choice. You weren't expected to shrug off trouble and thrive regardless. If an undesirable influence beset your horoscope you were just supposed to quake in your boots and pray! Astrologers of yesteryear were also oblivious to 'knife edge' alignments. These create circumstances that are irritating one moment, delightful the next, such as this week's 'quincunx' from Mars to Saturn. Expect tensions that can neither be resolved or ignored... yet nor need they be feared!
