It's not that they are immune to celestial suggestion. Even babies are remarkably responsive. But the younger you are, the less free-will you have and the more life's big choices are made for you. That's largely why I am loath to rob children of what freedom they may have left by planting too many ideas in adult minds! Now add the age you have turned (or will turn) this year. The result will be 111. It's true for me, you and all of us. By the way, it will be Remembrance Day too. Kay Dear Kay, Thank you for that. I'm getting ever more convinced that this day, this particular year, has special significance and represents a chance for us all to restart processes that have stalled. Wednesday October 5 Tipping Tradition I know it is over a month away but I'm already getting letters on the topic of 11.11.11. Dr Masaru Emoto, the eminent Japanese researcher, told me that, on November 11, he intends to be in Thailand, participating in a peace ceremony with 5,000 people. We spoke together about 'tipping points' and moments when a simple idea, held only by a small minority of people, can become part of the mainstream - and effectively gain a life of its own. He feels that 11.11.11 is a time when a worldwide prayer for peace and healing could gain that much momentum. Thursday October 6 Day 490 in the Big Martian House The date 11.11.11 is not the only big one in November. On November 4, a Russian mission to Mars returns to Earth. Only.. actually, it never left. The six-strong crew of Mars 500 climbed aboard their ship on June 3, 2010. They have been living in that cramped vehicle ever since. But it is not in space. It is in Moscow. This elaborate game of 'let's pretend' will, they hope, tell us if people could endure a real 520-day mission to the Red Planet. It has, I think, already told us plenty about the human capacity of self-deception! Friday October 7 Steve Jobs Steve Jobs, co-founder of Apple computers, was an intuitive Piscean born February 24, 1955. As befits a man born with Mercury rising in Aquarius, he was idiosyncratic, individualistic and innovative. A five planet 'Grand Cross' in his birth chart involved Jupiter and Uranus opposing Venus, all at right angles to an opposition of Neptune and Mars. He was to the computer what Les Paul was to the guitar, a pioneer of alternatives. Will Apple survive without him? It will go from strength to strength. I'll cut the technical explanation and just say these are angles. One is tense. The other is, er... more tense. Jupiter is all about hope. Venus represents love. Or, if you prefer, Jupiter is growth. Venus is creativity. Both definitions are true because astrology is a language where each word has many meanings. Either way, the relationships between love and hope... or between growth and creativity... have been strained. Now we're at the point where something must finally give way.
