PREVIOUS THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY

Nelson Mandala?
|
I've been thinking, for some while, about what to do on 11.11.11. I'd like to be somewhere significant, doing something special. I know that Dr Masaru Emoto is travelling to Thailand from Japan to work with several thousand people on a special prayer for peace. I'm in India this week, attending a meditation retreat. It's not so far to Thailand from there. But then I have also been invited to come home to England and sit with a meditation 'flashmob' at Trafalgar Square. Or I could join the protesters at St Paul's Cathedral in a prayer for world peace...

Power of One
|
The more I think about the best place to be on 11.11.11, the less it seems to matter. On Friday, around the world, in various places and spaces, people are planning to sit in silence, alone or together, praying for peace and envisaging a future with less fear and conflict. It's a time when we can 'reboot our lives' and rekindle our hope for the future. I want to join in. What matters is not where we are on the planet but where we are in our hearts. If we unite in one vision, this could be so powerful.

Wednesday November 9
London Calling
|
Every day, I meditate for an hour. I've been doing this for 33 years! I know that what I'm looking for is always within me, wherever I am but there's something particularly sweet about practising meditation in India. The contrast between the manic and the peaceful is somehow more obvious, outside and inside. This week, I've been in a beautiful garden watching my heart and the Moon grow full. But I'm only half on retreat. I've also been recording video and audio forecasts for 2012 and considering where to be on 11.11.11. I reckon it has to be London.

Spaceship Earth
|
One thing I love about travelling is the time change. Though I
understand why it's night in one part of the world and day in
another, I'm always amazed by the way the world can seem so different
to two people, in different places, at the same moment. I also love
how, though the Sun and Moon, whenever they come up or go down, have
the same constellations lying behind them. We really do live on a
spaceship that spins as it hurtles through the heavens. Tonight,
whenever it comes, will bring a glorious Full Moon to us all.

Friday November 11
The Sound of Silence
|
11.11.11 is not so much an astrological phenomenon as a quirk of the calendar but it is definitely a day when we can all embrace change. In Britain, at 11am there's the annual two-minute silence to remember those who died fighting wars. At 11:11 a.m., local time, many more around the world will dedicate two minutes to capturing the energy of this special moment in a prayer for peace. Some people, I hear, plan to combine both silences in a group meditation at a central London location where four lions guard a column. I may join them.

Your Week Ahead
|
The forecasts you are about to read are for the next seven days. That's always the case on this day of the week apart from the ones I give at the beginning of the month. Those cover the entire month. When preparing a long-range prediction I have to look at all the coming problems and opportunities, then decide which will dominate. Now, for example, most of us are feeling the influence of the recent Full Moon. It has brought up many issues for us to deal with. But as time goes by, they'll tend to be less bothersome.
