Eclipse Eclipsed
|
The Moon still looks full but the point of maximum illumination is over, as is the eclipse that accompanied it. If you haven't already felt a sense of relief and renewal, you can expect such an experience soon. At such times, we all get to feel as if a cloud has stopped blocking the light of hope. Further encouragement can be taken from the recent change of direction in the planet Uranus. We associate this heavenly body with 'liberation'. While it has been moving apparently backwards, many have felt trapped. More positive changes happen soon, as I'll explain tomorrow.

Zippety Do-dahs
|
Mercury is the planet of commerce and communication, traditionally known as the 'messenger of the gods'. It isn't always easy to see - but when it is visible one distinguishing feature is the speed at which it zips along. Or, at least, usually that's the case. Right now, it is hardly moving at all. That happens when it is just beginning a phase of retrograde motion or when, as now, it is ending one. Later this week, as Mercury appears to pick up speed and head 'forward', agreements will be reached, deals will be done and progress will be made.

Optical Solution
|
When Mercury began its recent retrograde phase, it had reached the 20th degree of the ninth zodiac division. It turns direct today but it will be the end of the month before it gets back to where it was. Astronomers will tell you that this is all just an optical illusion and they're right, but the symbolism is sweet and amazingly apt. Uranus turned 'direct' at the weekend. Jupiter will do the same at Christmas and we may see shooting stars tonight. I see hope for a fairer, happier, more prosperous future, despite all the worry in the world!

Potentially Positive
|
Dear Jonathan,
You recently said, '2012 for all its reputation, is going to be surprisingly good for almost all of us.' This raised a flag in my mind. Why did you say 'almost'? You could just as easily have said that it is 'going to be surprisingly good' and left it there. I feel that there is significance in the end of your comment. Do you have any more to say on that matter? Clint
Dear Clint,
2012 has the potential to be a good year for everyone. But not everyone works to make the most of positive potential.

Definitely Maybe
|
As regular readers know, I have long had my suspicions about the Large Hadron Collider. I never really thought it would subsume us all into a giant black hole. I was just amused that when experts were asked if this could happen, they couldn't quite bring themselves to say no. Scientists must restrict themselves to discussing probability and even the most impossible things have some level of probability. But I knew it might change the world's 'official understanding' of the universe and I doubted that the new understanding would be any more 'correct'. Do I still think that? Probably!

Your Week Ahead
|
You know how sometimes, your mobile phone interferes with your radio, sending a crackling noise through the speakers? We astrologers sometimes feel that way about Christmas! There we are, trying to tell you what kind of week the sky has in store... and there's the festive season, interrupting the flow with all that tinsel! I must somehow allow for all of that... yet remain aware that not everyone is automatically in a good mood, just because it's nearly the end of December. But I can say that for us all, as the week goes by, the outlook gets better!
