PREVIOUS THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY June 25 2012 to July 1 2012 Monday June 25 Seven Squares of Power When planets form a right angle, people often find themselves looking at life from the wrong angle. Yesterday, Pluto and Uranus made an exact 90-degree alignment. Today, Jupiter and Neptune are also at right angles and, at the end of the week, the Sun and Uranus form a square. The Pluto-Uranus square is the most exciting. These two, slow-moving planets don't often form a right angle. Once they do, they drift in and out of it. Usually, this happens three or maybe five times over many months. But yesterday's right angle was the first in a rare series of seven 'squares of power' that will continue until March 2015. This heralds political changes, technological breakthroughs and new cultural movements. If, so far, you've seen little sign of a brighter future, fear not. Soon many obstacles to happiness will seem more surmountable! Tuesday June 26 Transit links Dear Jonathan, You often say you need not see a celestial event to be influenced. But if you are lucky enough to have seen it, does that enhance the effect? And when viewing the Transit of Venus, I learned they always come in pairs separated by eight years. Donna Wednesday June 27 Mystic Statistic Yesterday, a reader asked if an astrological event has a different influence if you witness it. From a strictly scientific viewpoint, there's no way to tell! You could, I suppose, take two random groups of people, getting one to watch the sky and the other to ignore it. Then you could see who reported more changes. But testing a heavenly alignment is not like testing a painkiller. We're talking here about a 'mystical process'. In that realm, I'm not sure that there's any such thing as random! That said, I'll talk tomorrow about how I suspect it all works! Thursday June 28 Ear Witness Tomorrow, I shall start to talk about the seven 'squares of power' that are due to change our world between now and March 2015. I've got much to explain and it is very exciting. But first, I must honour my promise to explain the difference between 'feeling the influence' of a world-changing event and actually witnessing it. It's like the difference between hearing a newly-released song, over and over on the radio and being able to say you were present in the studio when the band first performed it! Nice when possible but not essential for everyone! Friday June 29 Wake Up Calls Pluto may no longer be an official planet - but, to astrologers, it remains an important celestial symbol. We believe it represents the big fears that we all secretly share. Whenever this slow-moving heavenly body changes signs or forms alignments to the other 'outer planets' we notice new fears arising. Since 2010, it has been nearly but not quite 90 degrees from Uranus, the 'great awakener'. On Sunday, that right angle finally became exact. This will happen seven more times in the next three years. Over the coming days, I will say much more about what all this suggests. Saturday June 30 Your July Monthly Forecast In mid-July, Mercury begins one of its short phases of retrograde motion. We had one back in March. There's another in November. Whenever wires get crossed or plans come unstuck, Mercury retrograde gets blamed... even when it isn't at fault! Some believe it's bad to do deals or sign contracts at such times. Apparently, Lady Gaga was recently advised to cancel part of her tour because of this month's situation. I would have told her not to worry. People who make software apps may have problems this month - but Mercury's bark will prove far worse than its bite.
