Thursday December 20 Out of Galactic Alignment Hello Jonathan, The Galactic Alignment is due on December 21. It happens every 26,000 years and is related to the black hole in the centre of our Milky Way. Why do you refute this? Glenn Dear Glenn, I know I must sound like the pot insulting the kettle but honestly, it is not the Galactic Alignment, it is a Galactic Alignment. We had one last year. And the year before. It is only half true to say it only falls on December 21 'once in 26,000 years'. A 34-year long phase of December 21 alignments began in 1980. Friday December 21 It's Not the End of the World Today's solstice coincides with what experts in the Mayan tradition calculate as the start of the 14th Baktun or Long Count Calendar. Hence it is the end of the 13th Baktun, which is where all this talk about the 'end of an era' has come from. It may be true. Other astrological alignments also speak of big changes in outlook and attitude sweeping the globe in 2013 and beyond. But contrary to what you may have read elsewhere, Earth is not now forming an unprecedented alignment with the 'Galactic Centre' and the world is not about to end! Promise!
