Eclipse
|
Later this week comes a partial lunar eclipse. You may or may not be able to see it from where you are but you'll feel the influence anyhow. To understand the traditional imagery, think of how the Earth's shadow slowly falls across the bright full moon, turning it a deep crimson or even turning it invisible. That's a sign of imminent renewal, an era drawing to a close and a fresh hope re-emerging at the very moment of apparent loss. Somewhere in all our lives now, such dramas are being played out, all with potential for positive outcomes.

Angels and Demons
|
Hi Jonathan,
A recent forecast reminded me of something I have heard spiritual philosophers say. When things work perfectly, it is because high cosmic forces (or spirits or guardian angels) have placed a good wish in our hearts. They say that by us thinking and acting upon such inspiration, it is brought to fulfilment. Any thoughts? Laura
Dear Laura,
Ah, but when DO things ever work perfectly? And if or when they don't, are we to assume that lower cosmic forces (or imps or demons) are to blame? I'm inclined to be extremely cautious about using language like this!

Do Unto Others
|
I was recently checking a famous quote for a forecast when I found the following fascinating collection. The dates given are, of course, approximate but the similarities, amazingly, are almost exact! 'Hurt not others with that which pains yourself.' Udanavarga, 560BC (Buddhism); 'Love thy neighbor as thyself.' Leviticus, 1300BC (Judaism); 'One should always treat others as they themselves wish to be treated.' Hitopadesa, 3200BC (Hinduism); 'What you do not want done to yourself, do not do to others.' Analects, 557BC, (Confucianism); 'Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.' [Matthew 7:12] Jesus, 30AD (Christianity). How amazing!

Eclipse
|
A partial lunar eclipse is a wonderful phenomenon to observe but you can still feel the benefit of this astrological influence - even if you don't witness it. It symbolises a big opportunity to move on from the past by letting go of an old fear. The details will, of course, vary from sign to sign and from person to person. But because it is a partial eclipse, somewhere in the equation it may involve going to the brink of a big decision, looking carefully at what it might lead to, then deciding whether to go ahead or pull back.

Family Ties
|
Dear Jonathan,
My daughter was born 16 days past her due date on the same date as my grandmother. My friend's daughter was born 11 days late, on the same date her sister was born. I wonder how often babies are born on the same date as someone else in their family. Michele
Hi Michele,
There's a big difference between sharing a birthday and being born on exactly the same day of the same year. But I have come across the phenomenon you describe. Often, I find family members share less immediately obvious points such as similar planetary alignments.

Your May Monthly Forecast
|
May brings a stunning solar eclipse, visible from Northern Australia and the South Pacific, plus the third in the series of seven sharp 'squares' or right angles being formed between Uranus and Pluto between 2012 and 2015. That makes this a potentially life-changing month. No matter what sign you are, if there's any aspect of your existence that has involved a degree of denial or deception, you can expect to find yourself facing facts and entering a much more honest phase of your future. This may feel challenging at first but the long-term impact can only be positive.
