These calculations paint a picture that resonates with astrologers. After all, this planet has a traditional symbolic association with trade-offs and discounts. Yet we are concerned. Mercury is only small. What if the shrinkage continues? Will we one day learn that this planet has suffered the fate of Pluto and been cruelly cast on to the cosmic scrap heap for the sin of being too small? We must hope that by then, astronomers have outgrown their current, childish obsession with comparative size. I think it is fairer to say that the ongoing square between Uranus and Pluto is causing us all, regardless of what we believe, to question the fears that once made us unnecessarily afraid. Kaye Dear Kaye, Like all good questions, this raises another question: how much is a person's life affected by their parents? The answer, surely, is a lot, partly through DNA and partly through the way they have been brought up. The traditional laws of horoscope interpretation don't easily differentiate between nature and nurture but they do contain clear rules for determining how a child will perceive their main male and female role models... and the challenges or advantages that this may well confer on them.
