PREVIOUS THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY
March 16 2015 to March 22 2015

Monday March 16
Belts and Braces
|
Fasten your seatbelt and remember the brace position. This is due to be an astrological week like none other that I can recall. Not that all will be bad. But much may seem to be pretty intense. We begin with the seventh 'square' in the slow series of alignments between Uranus and Pluto that have been happening since 2012. That final right angle completes tomorrow. Then, on Friday, there'll be a Solar Eclipse, involving the strongest 'Supermoon' the world has seen for 18 years. And it's the Equinox. Expect more explanation and interpretation, each day, here in this space.

Being There and Being Square
|
The first of seven 'squares' between Uranus and Pluto took place in June 2012. We can thus attribute almost the whole of the 'credit crunch' and the global financial drama that followed it, to this alignment. These celestial bodies move slowly and undergo retrograde phases. That explains why the squares (or right angles) have repeated seven times. The last one culminates today. Which makes it an interesting time for Israel to be holding an election. Many see Jerusalem as the weather vane of the world. The outcome of today's vote could yet cause many healing breezes to start blowing.

Super New Moon
|
Now that series of seven squares between Uranus and Pluto is over, we can turn our attention to the next big heavenly drama. By the time the Moon is new, a couple of days from now, it will be closer to Earth than it has been in about 18 years. It will look bigger than usual tonight and tomorrow and it is likely to cause higher, more dramatic tides. 'Supermoons' like this famously tend to have an impact on our emotions, especially when they also happen to be part of an eclipse. Expect powerful feelings to arise soon.

Roller Coaster
|
If you've been riding an emotional roller coaster lately, blame it on the current exceptional cosmic climate. It has been eighteen years since the Moon was last quite so close to the Earth, just as it turned new. That's a 'Supermoon'. And it is about to create an eclipse. You need not see an eclipse in order to 'feel it'. Indeed, unless you've got special glasses, you can't see it, even if you're right under it! Remember, please, that even though an eclipse may symbolise light being blocked, it is also about light becoming renewed. It's a very hopeful sign.

Eclipse Effect
|
Does an eclipse have greater impact on the people who happen to be beneath it while it is taking place? For an astrologer, this question is even more of a 'popular old chestnut' than 'How many angels can dance on the head of a pin?' To witness any celestial event is to appreciate its majesty and be awed by its power. But this eclipse surely affects us all, everywhere. It symbolises old fear fading and fresh hope arising and, because it takes place so close to the Equinox, it heralds a future with better balance and thus, more justice.

Your Week Ahead
|
We had the civil New Year on January 1. Chinese New Year began last month, on the 18th. Now, it's the Equinox and the Sun is entering Aries. So, it is astrological New Year! Nobody need worry about all these different occasions causing a devaluation of the 'new year currency'. In a world where so many people are seeking to change their lives, move on from their pasts and embrace change, we just can't have enough fresh starts. Given the added impetus of the recent Solar Eclipse, this is a truly fine time to make (or renew) a resolution.
