Oh Happy Day!

It's the International Day of Happiness! No, really, it's a real thing. But, if the Monday blues find you struggling to 'get with the programme', there's astrological news to lift your spirits. It's the Equinox! If Solstices are like the Sun's birthday, the Equinox represents the Sun's coming of age. It has experienced enough, this year, to make sense of where it's coming from, and it can see far enough into the future to have a clear view of what to do next. That really is a reason to celebrate.

Ready, Aries, Go

Welcome to the Sun in Aries, may I take your coat? Thank you, if you'd like to follow me, we'll get you kitted out. Did you bring a set of flame-retardant clothing? Good. Here are your rocket-powered roller-skates, your helmet and your parachute. Only kidding! You probably don't need a parachute, but if you do, they're available at the resting points. Before that, though, you've got to crash through the barriers at speed. Don't worry - it won't be difficult - that's what the helmet's for!

Orbit Owl

Dear Oscar, Every time I type 'Oscar Cainer' into Google, the other automatic option that comes up is 'Oscar the Owl'. Oscar is a rather beautiful sooty owl, from the mystical rainforest region of Australia, who got 'spooked' and flew away from Adelaide Zoo! Mary, Australia
Dear Mary, Oh no - I've been rumbled! The secret of my wisdom is out - I'm actually an escaped owl! Although typing with wings is tricky, the ability to turn my head 360 degrees helps me to track the planets... (Hoot!) Oscar

London Cries

My thoughts today are with the families of the victims of the attack in my home city, London. Astrology cannot be used to predict such terrible events. But if it offers anything at all today, it encourages us to listen to one another with open minds and generosity of spirit - and not to give in to the darkest thoughts that haunt our souls. Events like this make us feel powerless. They are hard to understand. But surely we must all try to make the world more of an understanding place.

Musical Myths
|

There are myths in the music industry, about famous bands recording secret messages in their songs. Some of these, which are only revealed when the track is played backwards, allegedly reveal satanic worship. Whether or not you believe the theories, it's true that sometimes, a little reverse engineering helps us to figure out what's really going on. This weekend, the Sun conjuncts retrograde Venus, and Mercury conjuncts Uranus before starting to slow down. A change in direction can help delve deep into the heart of what really matters.

Your Week Ahead

It's Mother's Day in the UK this weekend. And, with the coming New Moon conjunct retrograde Venus, what better omen could there be to encourage us to remember our mums? Of course, not everyone has the easiest of maternal relationships. But I think most parents would agree that, whatever mistakes they make, they only ever have one intention - to see their children grow up into happy, healthy independent adults. Life this week encourages us to strike out individually and explore our future. Just don't forget where you came from!
