A Change is Gonna Come

Today, Mercury repeats the supportive angle with Saturn it made at the end of March. As it's near the end of its retrograde phase, some of the issues we were dealing with then are coming back for review. When it first occurred, it brought the potential for a long-term plan to start to come together. That energy continues. Though it's all too easy to dismiss ideas because they seem difficult, today I want to lobby you to persevere. Hang on in there. A change of fortune isn't far away.

Everything's Connected

Hi Oscar, I feel that's everything's connected, but I've never read an explanation as to how the planets affect our individual lives. How did each planet receive its designation of particular qualities of influence? Cheryl
Hi Cheryl, The planets were assigned qualities by astrologers over millennia. As they were discovered, their movements were tracked against our history down here on earth, and their effects painstakingly deduced. As for how they exert their influence, I can't say for sure. But you don't need to know how to build a phone to take a call! Oscar

New Moon, New You

Many of us were fussy eaters as children. We may have been convinced that we didn't like a certain vegetable, or have refused to eat anything that wasn't beige. My toddler hates almost all fruit! But I can empathise with him - I hate almost all jars of baby food! Our tastes change and mature over time. One day he'll realise that he really does like oranges. As the New Moon arrives in Taurus, now might be a time when we all start to find pleasure in new, unexpected places.

Venus Calling

Venus arrives in Aries tomorrow. She initially visited at the beginning of February but, like a forgetful friend who thinks they've left the stove on, she had to turn back just to check on what she'd been doing. Now she's returned and, although she hasn't made herself comfortable yet, she's at the front door, looking a little less worried. Good. For Aries, this is the kind of houseguest it's always a pleasure to welcome. And for the rest of us, we can look forward to having her full, undistracted attention.

Reviewing the Situation

Mercury conjuncts Uranus again today. As this is the second of a 'three pass transit', we'd expect this to be the middle of the story. The first hit would have introduced the themes, the middle would encompass the drama, and the finale would bring the resolve. Yet, as Mercury slows down before turning direct next week, it has Uranus for company. It suggests that whatever changes you're reviewing, or issues you're unable to free yourself from, the answer is closer than you realise.

Your May Monthly Forecast

This month, Mercury turns direct before conjuncting Uranus again. But, back at the beginning of the year, the astrological headlines were dominated by Jupiter, the planet of luck opposing Uranus, the planet of surprises. And, while this remains the year's defining news, another alignment was also forming: Saturn trine Uranus. In May, for the penultimate time until 2047, this alignment forms again. It will help us all to reflect on a fundamental restructuring process that will benefit us for years to come.
