We're about to end a short astrological fallow period. But although there has been no new planetary wind to buffet our sails, I don't suggest that we're marooned at sea, unable to further our progress. There are strong prevailing tides to ride upon, and plenty of oars should these prove insufficient. The magic of the recent Full Moon in Sagittarius has been magnified by that sign's ruler, Jupiter, being stationary prior to turning direct over the weekend. That's the kind of wave that's worth taking a ride on.

Mercury is closing in on the Sun, ahead of their Solstice rendezvous. It's repeating the planetary aspects the Sun has just been making. Today, it makes a sharp angle with Uranus, the bringer of change, and a supportive aspect with Jupiter, planet of wisdom and adventure. Tomorrow brings a dynamic alignment with Neptune, planet of empathy and enchantment. Is this like trying to shut a stable door after the horse has bolted? We may have been acting on impulse, but the next few days will show that it wasn't without reason.

London's Burning

My thoughts for today are only about the victims, families and friends of those affected by last night's horrendous fire in West London. My heart goes out to them. As you will see from the accompanying photo (taken by Daniel Cainer on his way into central London) at 10 am the building was still burning. If you feel inclined to donate, you can do so here.

I was going to write about the Sun opposing Saturn today. But the unspeakable disaster in West London has left me distraught. The pictures on TV don't do justice to the human tragedy, so bravely described by the residents of this close community in North Kensington. It's so upsetting to hear these accounts, partly because of our powerlessness in the face of such great misfortune. All we can do is give what we can, remind ourselves of how precious life is, and resolve to live it to the fullest.

Plan Speaking

This weekend, Neptune turns retrograde. Although this happens every year, it's important not to underestimate its impact. Traditional Neptunian qualities will begin to work differently. For some, that might mean that some sacrifices are a little harder to make. But it also heralds a moment when the ephemeral becomes a little more tangible. When a distant dream can become more defined and realistic. As Mercury opposes Saturn, we can't expect to have the world on a plate. But if we're willing to work at it, a plan can really come together.

Your Week Ahead

He's making a list, He's checking it twice, He's gonna find out who's naughty or nice. Solstice Claus is coming to town. OK, maybe I'm getting into the holiday spirit of the wrong Solstice. But given that this Solstice occurs at the same time as a Sun-Mercury conjunction, we may all find ourselves better at list-making and getting things organised than we've been in a while. Not only that but, with the rest of this week's encouraging aspects, we're unlikely to be disappointed by what appears under our tree.
