X Does Not Mark the Spot

The Sun's uncomfortable angle with Neptune last weekend caused me to think about 'Planet X'. Some people have been predicting that this mysterious planet, called Nibiru will arrive in October to collide with and destroy the Earth. Anyone in my line of work spends a lot of time studying the sky. And all those who take a rigorous approach to observing the heavens, are perfectly sure that Nibiru won't be arriving this year... nor indeed any other. Today, don't be cowed by visions of unlikely disaster.

Hi Oscar,
Will the Jupiter-Uranus opposition this year be bad for my relationship? (I'm Sagittarius and he's Aquarius) Jennifer
Hi Jennifer,
Only if you believe it will! You probably both have at least one thing in common - a love of freedom. Of course, this could possibly turn into a desire for freedom from one another. But it could also forge an us-against-the-world mentality that binds you more tightly. The opposition doesn't mean the planets are at each others' throats. They're equally as likely to be teaming up together.

Yesterday, Mars made a conjunction with Chiron, and tomorrow it links with Saturn. Chiron, a more recent addition to the celestial bodies studied by astrologers, remains a much-debated influence. Some people believe it can represent pain in our lives. But the centaur Chiron, though a wounded immortal, was a healer, a teacher and a hero. When combined with Mars's call to action, it brings the potential to triumph over adversity. Stick with your endeavours now. Stay determined. What we start will echo long into the future.

Aquarian Age

The Sun enters Aquarius today and brings the courage for the water-bearers among us to believe and have confidence in their innovative way of doing things. But the benefits aren't limited to those born between now and mid-February. We'll all feel encouraged to become a little more independent, original and honest. And for those of us blessed with Aquarians in our lives, now's the time to give them the freedom they need to be their truest, most brilliant selves.

Today, Venus makes a deliciously encouraging sextile with Pluto. It's quite a combination: Venus the planet of love, value, pleasure and charm, allied with Pluto's themes of power, intensity, control and secrecy. If today were a novel, it could have been written by E.L. James. Not that I'm suggesting that your life is about to become quite so saucy! There are plenty of other, less salacious, interpretations of this celestial combination. The future isn't black and white. In fact, I can think of at least 50 shades in between.

Your Week Ahead

This week, it's Venus's turn to link to Saturn, following last week's Mars connection. But the red planet hasn't gone quiet - it's 'homecoming' time as it enters Aries for the first time in two years. And, with the first New Moon of the year in Aquarius, it's a week to be enthusiastic and passionate about new beginnings. Will everything fall instantly into place? Well, perhaps not. But Mercury's conjunction with Pluto suggests that, with the right attitude, the transformation can begin.
