Settling In

Mercury entered Virgo over the weekend, returning after a brief exit during its retrograde phase. It's as if a visitor came to your home with a bottle of wine, but left their suitcases in the car. It's hard for them to really enjoy their stay until they've unpacked and made themselves at home. For a while, Mercury was rummaging around the back seat looking for his things. Now, he's back, baggage in hand, ready to plug in his phone charger. Soon we'll all relax into the visit.

No Nigh Never

There's yet another internet video claiming that the end of the world is nigh. It arrives on September 23, apparently. I don't buy into Doomsday predictions... but it's interesting that, around that time, Mars opposes Neptune, Mercury squares Saturn, and Pluto changes direction as Jupiter opposes Uranus, the final opposition in the series I've been talking about all year! It may be dramatic, but I suspect we'll all be here to talk about it afterwards...

Grand Trine

A wonderful Grand Trine begins today. Venus links to Saturn, as she moves towards an exact alignment with Uranus next week. Since Saturn is the planet of time, and Venus brings love to the Zodiac, there's a sense of deferred gratification. Are we supposed to resist life's temptations in the hope of garnering a more satisfying reward? Perhaps. But Friday's encouraging link between Venus and Jupiter suggests that, if we do manage to resist, we won't have to wait long to benefit!

Mark My Words

When I was at school, there was a shift away from exams. Coursework became much more relevant. At least a third of my marks came from the grading of essays and completion of tasks set throughout the academic year. In a similar fashion, the Sun's link to Saturn today represents the final big test of what began with their conjunction last December. Rather than worry about how we're going to do, it's a chance to look back at all that we've learnt. It will stand us in good stead for an easier time ahead.

Action Stations

One of the best acts I've ever seen at the Edinburgh Fringe was someone who performed as The Boy With Tape On His Face. This year, he went under the moniker Tape Face, but, to paraphrase Shakespeare, whatever name this particular rose goes under, he seems to guarantee an hour of inventive, enthralling and hilarious entertainment. When you're a mime artist, your actions are guaranteed to speak louder than words. And as Mercury conjuncts Mars this weekend, the stage is set for us to follow his example.

Your Week Ahead

Sometimes there's not much celestial activity to write about. And others, the planets offer an embarrassment of riches. Despite having the complexion of an overripe tomato, I'm not remotely ashamed by how much astrology I can talk about this week. The mere thought of explaining how Venus, which has been in a Grand Trine, then enters Virgo, while Mercury joins with Mars as they both oppose Neptune, which also combines with a New Moon - and it's the Equinox - in so few words, makes me break out in a sweat. So I'll simply suggest that it's best to embrace a new paradigm.
