PREVIOUS THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY

October 30 2017 to November 5 2017

Monday October 30

Keeping a Lid On It

Long before the Game Boy or teddy bears, a 'jack-in-the-box' was the best toy in the nursery. Legend has it that the idea was based on John Schorne, who cast the devil into a boot and thereby saved the village of North Marston. I know that if someone cranks my handle hard enough, a side that I'd rather keep a lid on pops out! Recent Plutonian activity brings self-control to the fore. If we can exercise willpower, tension can be transformed into something much more useful.

Treat Yourself

Happy Halloween! As someone who's constantly studying the stars, when things go bump in the night, I'm usually more concerned about meteorites than monsters. I'm confident that there's nothing to fear, at least from the extraterrestrial, this evening. In fact, it's remarkably quiet in the heavens. Of course, with mysterious Pluto holding sway of late, what is hidden, is emerging from the shadows. Yet the trick is not to treat this with foreboding, but to greet it with gladness.

Fall Back Spring Forward

When Benjamin Franklin proposed what became Daylight Saving Time, artificial light was at a premium. And while people in the northern hemisphere may enjoy an extra hour in bed, parents of young children (like me), must adjust to waking at 5am instead of the usual 6! If this teaches us anything, it's that nature (and children) laugh at our efforts to control time. A situation will take as long as it takes. It's better to adjust, and work around it, than to try to turn the clock back - or forward!

Thursday November 2

Quintiling Planets Lead to Michelin Stars

Tomorrow, brings harmonious and productive celestial relationships. The most rare, is the star-shaped 'quintile' between Jupiter and Pluto - the first since 2010. A sense of sophistication and a taste for success is coming our way. That's as maybe, but if we're hungry for cordon bleu, but have no skill in the kitchen, surely disappointment is on the horizon? Luckily, with Saturn and Neptune's effects, we can access both the imagination, and the discipline, to ensure that this dish is Michelin starred.

Friday November 3

New Directions

This weekend Venus moves opposite the great change-maker Uranus, the Moon becomes full in harmony with dreamy Neptune and Mercury begins to explore adventurous Sagittarius. With this optimistic mix, you'll be keen to investigate new opportunities and consider branching in exciting directions. But in order to march off confidently, it will help to have an idea of where you're headed and how you'll get there. With a little preparation you'll avoid the blind alleys and hit the open road.

Saturday November 4

Your Week Ahead

Venus moves out of opposition with Uranus and enters Scorpio this week. And as the Sun makes an encouraging alignment with Pluto (ruler of the Sun's current sign), I'm slightly jealous of the planetary gumbo being served up to Scorpios now! But the rest of us needn't go hungry. We're heading towards 2017's final Saturn-Uranus link, which briefly forms a Grand Trine with the Moon. The cosmos is in guardian angel mode. We'll all feel the benefit of its nourishing care.

Sunday November 5
