Today Mercury, the planet of communication, makes a productive and creative angle with Uranus, the zodiac's great change-maker. With the glow of the weekend's magical Lunar Eclipse, this bodes well for Valentine's Day tomorrow. Although Saturn's involvement in the proceedings may cause some people to worry, Saturn doesn't have to bring doom and gloom! It can herald a time when the frivolous becomes serious, and tentative relationships become more substantial and secure.

Happy St Valentine's Day! Have any cards dropped through your letterbox yet? Given that Saturn is making angles to both the Sun and Mercury, it wouldn't be entirely surprising if messages are mis-delivered, or arrive slower than anticipated today. But they say that 'only fools rush in', so there might be a reason to appreciate any delays. It's time to get serious about what we want, and how we ask for it. With the Eclipse still fresh on last weekend's horizon, there's every chance you'll get what you ask for.

Tomorrow, Mercury receives an encouraging boost from the planet of desire, Mars. In the wake of Valentine's Day, what does this mean to those of us who are exploring the realms of the heart? It tells us that the universe is encouraging us to be bold in asking for what we desire... and to find the courage to articulate feelings and speak our minds. This alignment can bring fiery action into our lives. But whether that's through hot, romantic passion or heated, platonic debate - that's for you to decide!

Hi Oscar,
What's the story is behind the zodiac name, Cancer? It's strange that it's also the name of an illness. Thanks Aeona
Hi Aeona,
Cancer is Latin for 'crab'. The constellation was named after the crab that Hercules defeated during his battle with the Hydra. As a servant of Jupiter's wife Juno, the crustacean was rewarded for its faithful service with a place in the sky. Cancer the disease got its name from Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine, who described a crab-shaped 'unnatural' tumour. Other than sharing a name, there's no relationship between them! Oscar

This weekend, the Sun enters Pisces. As you would imagine, it brings a brightness and sparkle to all that Pisceans can expect in their lives. But, to echo a poem by the wonderful Tim Key, when the angler cycles home with a fish in his basket, somewhere a lonely trout is missing a friend. Does the Sun leaving Aquarius mean that Aquarians can expect darker times? No! It simply brings a shift in priorities. All of us can now feel the cosmic wheel beginning to turn.

Your Week Ahead

We're in the magical time between two eclipses. As the Sun enters Pisces it brings a new sensitivity to the playful creativity encouraged by last weekend's Lunar Eclipse. And, as it moves towards the Solar Eclipse next weekend, it becomes the focus of Mars and Pluto's relationship, ahead of the fiery red planet becoming conjunct with Uranus in its own sign. This energetic injection of powerful change is quite a combination. Compassionate, humane, yet radical action can be the answer to its call.
