Square Deal

A 90-degree angle between the Sun and Mars can occur up to twice a year, so last weekend's square isn't uncommon. What lends it greater weight is that the Sun is staying in the home of Mars, which hasn't happened since 2009, when it was in Scorpio. This time it's in Aries, giving the whole situation more get up and go. So. although the world is full of reasons to feel frustrated, the planets' movements provide impetus. Whilst the iron's so hot and ready for striking this is not the time to give up on anything.

Getting Plastered

Hi Oscar,
What's the difference in intensity between having Saturn in your Sun sign and a Saturn return? I'm Sagittarius and, although Saturn left my sign in December, I'm still too nervous to figure out when my Saturn return is! Lynn
Hi Lynn,
I suppose it's a little like the difference between a plaster cast and a dressing plaster. One restricts our movements for an extended period, the other is a response to a sharp shock - but is over faster. Both, ultimately, are healing and make us stronger.

Promising Future

Venus makes one last call into Aries tomorrow before she moves into Taurus at the weekend. This time it's the turn of Uranus to receive the warmth, kindness and material benefit that Venus brings. Uranus isn't known for its sentimentality. It's all punk, iconoclasm and the freedom to pursue exciting change. But as Venus and Uranus conjunct, there will be ways in which this particular revolution becomes something to enjoy. Utopia is still a way off, but the future that lies ahead is full of promise.

Square Up

Today, the Sun forms another 'square', this time with restrictive Saturn. At first glance that might seem like an uncomfortable combination. But the principle of constricted energy lies at the heart of internal combustion technology. This astrological combination can act as an emotional boiler-room that can power us forward. This is an engine that can drive us towards success. As long as we're conscious of the environmental impact of our actions, it can carry us to wherever we need to go.

Another Blue Moon!

The Easter weekend's Full Blue Moon is going to be special. It's the centrepiece of an exciting celestial sky. For a start, Mercury converges with the Sun, bringing an air of intelligence to what would otherwise be an intense emotional realisation. As the Sun-Moon axis forms in the sky, Mars and Saturn link to create a T-Square formation. Their energy, enhanced by the Libra Full Moon is akin to pouring rocket fuel into an engine. We may have to be careful which stars we explore, but there's enough energy for us all to benefit.

Your April Monthly Forecast

Every year Venus moves opposite Jupiter. And every year she forms two harmonious 'trines' with Pluto. But it's not every year that she performs this feat on the same day, while her partners in this routine are themselves engaged in a powerful dance. In April, that's the glamorous ball that the cosmos is inviting us to attend. There's no need to worry about what to wear or finding the right size slippers though! This has the makings of a celebration that we'll remember for its social delights.
