Over the Rainbow

Having just watched the great Wizard Of Oz, it's easy to see the Sun creating a yellow brick road as it moves into Gemini. And, with emotional Venus settling into Cancer, it's tempting to give the role of the Scarecrow to Cancerians. But they're far too savvy to need brains from the Wizard! Geminis don't need hearts either. But as the journeys of these planets unfold, we'll find ourselves better equipped to analyse and share our feelings. It won't just be wicked witches who find their hearts melting at the end of this rainbow!

Golden Possibilities

Dear Oscar, Recently, promising opportunities seem to appear and then vanish or change into something unexpected. It's frustrating! I've read that it's something to do with Neptune. Is it? Yours Harry
Dear Harry, Scorpio, which is associated with financial investments, has hosted Jupiter (planet of wealth), since October; and Neptune has been making links with Jupiter since December. This fascinating dynamic creates unimagined golden possibilities, which are as elusive as quicksilver! Let's hope that when they align again this week, Saturn's link with Venus will provide welcome stability. Oscar

Today, Mercury and the Moon, the two fastest lights traversing our skies, link with the approaching Jupiter-Neptune trine to form what's known as a 'Mystic Rectangle'. When formations of planets involve the Moon like this, if you blink you could miss it. Yet, although the Moon's speed means that its impact will be brief, it will be significant. Mercury encourages us to think big and communicate our most inspiring visions. The Moon will help open our hearts as well as our minds.

Tomorrow we benefit from a rare, harmonious Jupiter-Neptune angle. It's the second in a series of three 'trines' that help set the stage for 2018's main astrological show. This middle act sees a return to themes that first surfaced in December, and brings a lesson which will need work before it can be assimilated. But, as Jupiter represents optimism, and Neptune rules our dreams, whatever we learn now will help us to explore sensitively the next step of a wonderful adventure.

Drop the Anchor

Venus moves opposite Saturn this weekend. As the great cosmic teacher, Saturn has a reputation for being heavy and creating weighty challenges in its wake. But although it brings discipline and responsibility, I prefer to see Saturn as an anchor - a mooring, which may not always allow us to journey as far as we'd like, but without which we'd easily become lost. In the midst of the rare Jupiter-Neptune trine that inspires and excites today, we'll appreciate what grounds us too.

Your Week Ahead

This week, as creative Venus moves opposite Saturn before forming a powerful Grand Trine with Jupiter and Neptune, we have two situations that could hardly be more different. Serious Saturn insists that we look long and hard at what's in our hearts, while Jupiter and Neptune insist that it's good to be imaginative and intrepid! But as Mercury joins the Sun in Gemini at the Full Moon, we'll find it's possible to do - and be - both things simultaneously, as long as we fully commit to the adventure.
