Daylight Darkness in Temuco

Outside Chile, Temuco isn't widely known as a tourist destination. Yet, apart from access to lakes, valleys and the vistas of the Andes, it boasts an extra attraction today - a view of the Total Solar eclipse in Sagittarius. But flying to South America isn't the only way to experience the majesty of this event. Its effects play out in all our lives, regardless of the geography. Seeds of change are being sown. We don't have to leave the comfort of our own homes to begin the journey towards something big and beautiful.

Pen vs Sword
|

They say the pen is mightier than the sword, which was possibly the inspiration behind the penknife! If so, it wasn't particularly successful; a penknife wouldn't be my first choice if I had to defend myself, and it's impossible to write with! Yet, as Mercury and Mars harmonise today, scribe and soldier make an effective unit. And Venus in Sagittarius encourages us to explore our hearts, whilst equipping us with tools to handle the challenges. There's a way to be adventurous and protect what matters.

Box Clever

Saturn (representing work and discipline) returns to Aquarius (sign of society and progress) tomorrow. A simple interpretation suggests we'll have difficulties contacting friends; but surely it's not that simple? There must be more complex, deeper meanings, such as the rewriting of rules to make technology the foundation of the workplace, or realising the importance of community in challenging times. If 2020 has taught us anything, it's to embrace the unexpected. Much can be learned by thinking outside the box today.

Focus on the Light

Dear Oscar, Jonathan Cainer once wrote 'perpetrators of fear and prejudice have created a world in which money matters more than love, anger counts for more than compassion, arrogance is applauded, ignorance is acclaimed and wisdom entirely undervalued.' How should we respond? Yours, Jack
Dear Jack, If you take 50 people and one commits 50 violent acts, it feels as if everyone's at war. But you still have 49 fundamentally good souls. We often focus on darkness while the light hides in plain sight. His words remind us of the importance of taking action to redress the balance. Yours, Oscar

Faith and Hope
|

Let's talk about hope. This Promethean gift was all that remained in Pandora's box after Chaos escaped and flooded the world. Saturn's return to the position it held when the world first locked down may look troubling. But optimistic Jupiter joins it in Aquarius this weekend in advance of The Great Conjunction, the likes of which we haven't seen in Aquarius since 1405. It encourages faith in our ability to learn and progress. This weekend brings signs that the future can be not only different, but better.

Your Weekly Horoscope

Few children think of asking for 'a Great Conjunction' in their letter to Santa. But, after the year we've had, it could be the Christmas gift we're all looking for. As enthusiastic Jupiter (growth and opportunity) enters Aquarius for the first time in nearly twelve years, we're being given what we need to make progress after a difficult 2020. And its once-every-20-year meeting with Saturn, which happens on the Solstice this year, calls us to start work on building the future, rather than protecting an outmoded past.
