Five Years

More Sally Fisher Art here.

It's five years since Jonathan Cainer, my uncle, who wrote this column for over twenty years, left us to join the stars. He was much loved by readers not only of this newspaper but of publications all over the world. Although a lot has changed since then, the principles by which he worked have not. Like him, I interpret the movements of the planets and distil this analysis into descriptions and predictions about what's happening in our lives. We all miss him greatly... but I feel strongly that he's still with us in spirit.

Cinco De Mayo

Wherever we're from, and whatever we've been through, we all share fundamental qualities. Yet it's worth acknowledging the cultural differences that make humanity so vibrant and interesting. Today brings the festival of Cinco De Mayo, which is joyfully observed by Mexican-American communities. As Jupiter makes a rare link with Uranus, it offers the opportunity to enthusiastically showcase uniqueness and independence. If that's not worth a celebratory taco, I'm not sure what is!

Vacademy Award

Back on Oscars night, I had something to celebrate too. It may not have been an Academy Award, but getting vaccinated made me feel like a winner! Of course, rather than twerking like Glenn Close, I shivered through the night. But despite the side-effects I'm so grateful to all the medical professionals whose hard work has given us hope of beating the pandemic. It's taken vision and ingenuity to get to this point. In many walks of life now, we'll start seeing our faith rewarded with progress.

Mom in the USA
|
More Sally Fisher Art here.
|
Just ahead of Mothering Sunday in the US, Venus (harmony, and heart-felt emotions) links with the cosmic agent of growth, Jupiter, reminding us of the importance of communicating our feelings with those we love. But there's another influence adding flavour to the celestial mix. As Venus leaves home and enters Gemini, it encourages us to invest in the people and situations that enrich our lives. Yet, while a little indulgence is a good thing, it's important, this weekend, to spend only what we have to spare.

Your Weekly Horoscope

My son's a fussy eater. I often battle with him over trying new food; and it's especially frustrating when he decides that he won't eat something he's previously enjoyed. But it's not that he's fickle - it's just that his taste buds are evolving. So, even if potatoes become 'disgusting', he might be amenable to oranges! As Venus moves into Gemini ahead of the Taurean New Moon, we may all find our tastes changing. Jupiter's arrival in Pisces encourages us to move on, develop, and grow.
