Healing Arts

The phrase 'art for art's sake' is often credited to the French poet Gautier. He opposed the idea that art is beneficial only when it serves moral or instructional purposes. Yet, while beauty and creativity are qualities with inherent value, there's no shame in utilising their ability to connect with others, especially when the message requires delicate diplomacy. Before entering Libra today, Mercury's link with Uranus suggests that a breakthrough is possible. But bridges of healing must be beautiful, as well as sturdy.

Clickbait and Influencers

In this digital age of clickbait and influencers, style often outweighs substance. Yet words still matter. As a writer, I try to make what I write not only relevant and meaningful, but attractive to read. Yet it's not the words I value most, it's the person reading them. Although the way we choose to share information matters, it's not as important as the message itself. With Mercury (communication) settling into Libra, when heartfelt ideas are expressed with empathy they can be transformed into effective action.

Pinch, Punch

When I was at school, kids would shout 'pinch, punch, first of the month... and no returns!' Then, they'd launch an assault, and the 'pinched' and 'punched' were prohibited from retaliating. It seems childish, until we remember that international treaties detail precise ways in which nations are, and aren't, allowed to attack one another! If only we spent as much effort pursuing peaceful pastimes rather than aggressive activities. As Mars moves towards an opposition with Neptune, in our own lives, that's what we should do.

Birthday boy Keanu Reeves starred in The Matrix - a movie about humanity being unaware that it was living in a computer simulation. These days, academic papers discuss the possibility that our universe is a construct of advanced supercomputers. One theory suggests that the speed of light is only unbreakable because it represents the maximum processing power of our overloaded technology! But, whether or not life's an illusion, we're living it. Today, satisfying our desires will feel like a believable scenario.

Queen B

We all have our favourites. Some people like Harry and Meghan, others prefer William and Kate. But this weekend, my favourite royal celebrates her birthday. Queen B (aka Beyonce) hits the big 40. And while her glamorous image has shifted and changed over 30 years in showbiz, her incredible voice continues to bring great success. This weekend, as Mercury (communication) links with Saturn (wealth and fame), like Beyonce, we must ensure that, no matter the image we present, the message in our hearts remains true.

Your Weekly Horoscope

Parenting is a tricky business. I do my best to lay down the law about screen time and green vegetables, but it's often, 'do as I say, not as I do'! And I often bend the rules just to get some peace and quiet! But at least the guidelines I try to enforce aren't arbitrary - I'm just trying to help my son develop good life skills. We all have to acquiesce to certain forces and follow frustrating guidelines. Even though there's a revolutionary feel to this week's cosmic outlook, under the New Moon, it can be a peaceful revolution.
