Growth isn't always a comfortable experience. Is it easy for a caterpillar to emerge from its chrysalis? Or for a serpent to shed its skin? In order to fulfil our potential, we have to let go of ideas that hold us back. Following Jupiter and Pluto's uneasy relationship this weekend, the cosmos calls us to look closely at any aspects of our lives that are preventing progress. We're all capable of unconscious self-sabotage... and self-scrutiny isn't easy. But it can help us to liberate ourselves from tired ways of being... and fly.

Amy Winehouse

Today would have been Amy Winehouse's 38th birthday. As a contemporary of mine, I often saw her in the Camden venues I worked at years ago. She was so commanding on stage that it wasn't easy to see the sensitive, delicate soul beneath the feisty exterior. As the Sun opposes Neptune, we see behind a veil and how a performance is masking vulnerability. When we connect with the truth, something beautiful becomes more tangible.

Day of Democracy

Although the textbooks tell us that Libra is all about diplomacy and harmony, speaking as a Libran, I know that sense of decorum slips when unfairness is encountered - especially when we believe we're missing out! As Mars enters Libra today, we may all find ourselves subject to righteous indignation. That doesn't necessarily mean burning bridges; but we might need to take action in order to ensure that situations become more even-handed. On this International Day of Democracy, it's time to make actions count.

Mexican Independence Day

Tonight, I'm honouring Mexican Independence Day with a delicious Central American feast; although, with all those beans being consumed, it seems slightly incongruous that the UN has chosen today to campaign for the preservation of the ozone layer! As Mars settles into Libra, we're being urged to take actions that suit the moods of the people around us. With Venus linking to Saturn, preserving traditions and protecting values is prioritised. A balance between self-satisfaction and other people's wellbeing can be struck.

Getting Serious
|

Love is a heady emotion. Although it causes us to do crazy things and think silly thoughts, as Venus links with Saturn today, the planet of love urges us to get serious about what (or who) we love and care about. That doesn't mean that we can't act wildly or feel passionate; with Uranus and the Moon involved in the cosmic picture, extreme emotions won't be far away. But, if we want relationships to evolve, and remain resilient, any changes we make this weekend need to be made with a sober heart.

Your Weekly Horoscope

|
For most of our lives we exist in the middle, with a past to look back on and a future to engage with. We try to find the right balance between retrospection and projection. This week, as the Full Moon arrives on the verge of the Equinox, the cosmos enables us to strike an illuminating equilibrium between the two perspectives. It's time to let go of self-recrimination and doubt and use what we've learned to move forwards. The path ahead is less hidden (and much more promising) than we think.
