Pablo Picasso

Pablo Picasso, whose birthday it is today, remarked that 'art is a lie that makes us realise truth'. With the Sun in subtle, complex Scorpio, and creative Venus preparing to link with illusory Neptune, his words are delightfully appropriate. I'm not suggesting we should deceive one another. Yet sometimes, painting a picture in a certain light explains issues more candidly than providing misleading amounts of detail. There are no rules when it comes to expressing feelings. But our hearts will know what's right.

No Time to Spare

This weekend, the clocks go back in the UK. And while the night's advance is good news for trick or treaters, it could have been very different. In 2019, the EU voted to scrap daylight savings - but they've delayed implementing that decision. Here's hoping for less prevarication at the COP26 climate summit that starts on Sunday. As Venus and Neptune link, we need to be sensitive to one another's interests. With imagination and flair, there's still time to create a vision that inspires us on to better things.

Counting on Forgiveness
|

The computer pioneer Grace Hopper stated that 'it's easier to ask forgiveness than it is to get permission'. But, as many a dentist will attest, sometimes you have to apologise for something before you've even done it! And just because something's easy doesn't mean it's the right thing to do. As Venus and Neptune align today, we may feel inclined to surrender to what seems like an inevitability. As long as this represents a conscious sacrifice (rather than capitulation based on deception) it can lead to meaningful gains.

Good Causes

Bill Gates, whose birthday it is today, has pledged to donate 99% of his money to good causes. How on earth will he survive on his remaining $1.2 billion? Maybe we should organise a whip-round! I'm teasing of course. It is, after all, a step in the right direction. As Venus follows up its alignment with Neptune by making links to Saturn and Jupiter, while it's wise to forgive, it's foolish to forget. Today, we can use memories of the past to inform, if not define, our judgments about how to live well in the future.

Trick or Treat
|

As Halloween approaches, Mars returns home to Scorpio and encourages us to satisfy our deepest needs. While some people might quicken their pulses with spicy tricks and treats, my tastes are more vanilla - or should I say chocolate! Although it's going to be tricky to maintain self-discipline this weekend, the Sun and Saturn's alignment suggests past restrictions will pay off. We've been constrained for too long. Whether we're going out in costume, or staying in, we deserve to be treated.

Your November Monthly Horoscope

Diplomacy and charm are all well and good, but sometimes there's no substitute for digging in and sticking to our guns. Venus moves into Capricorn in November, and stays in this determined, ambitious sign for a long time. Meanwhile with most planets well positioned ahead of the Lunar Eclipse, the cosmos encourages reliable alliances that will advance our causes. So, while we must be careful that commitment doesn't morph into obstinacy, we're well equipped to fight for our corners, and enjoy the results.
