Since last year's Mardis Gras parades were cancelled, this year's celebrations promise to be even more colourful and celebratory than usual. This week's Piscean New Moon adds a boost of creativity and imagination to the mix, and with Venus and Mars still entwined as they head towards Aquarius, there's an aura of passion and excitement. This is just the beginning of a new celestial situation that brings the hope of a brighter future. There's no need to go to New Orleans to enjoy yourself today!

Pancake Day

It's Shrove Tuesday - a day in the Christian tradition, where all the ingredients in the kitchen cupboard are used up ahead of Lent. In many households, it's known as Pancake Day. But, given that it's baking maestro Paul Hollywood's birthday today, maybe it's worth attempting to create more interesting sweet treats? Like a celebration cake he and fellow birthday boy Justin Bieber can share! As the coming New Moon links with Uranus, and Mercury converges with Saturn, there's something to be said for starting new traditions.

Magic Beans

When Jack used his magic beans, it was probably under a Moon like tonight's New Moon. With Jupiter promoting growth like a hormonal teenager watering the house plants, the seeds of any ideas planted now won't remain dormant for long. With Pluto, Mars and Venus converging, the really exciting stuff is happening underground, away from prying eyes. Such moments in the lunar cycle are intense. But even if there are dark, brooding parts to this story, the prospects are good for a fairytale ending.

Inner Strength

When three or more planets converge in the same part of the sky, it's called a Stellium. As Venus, Mars and Pluto connect under the Dark of the Moon, exciting developments are afoot. Yet sometimes, the decisions and experiences that shape us aren't obvious. So, although there's a subtlety to the transformation that's taking place, that doesn't mean it's not powerful. Au contraire! This Stellium, which focuses on the qualities of inner strength and depth of character, can be a life-changer.

According to astrophysicists, an old rocket will hit the Moon today and explode. Although opinions vary on who this piece of space-junk initially belonged to, whoever the astral litterbug is, maybe it's time for us to think about whether we want the Moon to become as polluted as our planet. This weekend, as Venus and Mars converge once more in Aquarius, the desire in our hearts becomes more progressive and idealistic. As long as costs aren't allowed to spiral, the future we want is still possible.

Your Weekly Horoscope

We're told that if we love something, we have to set it free. If it comes back, it's ours. If it doesn't, it never was. Having been closely entwined since meeting in Capricorn a few weeks ago, Venus and Mars converge in Aquarius this week. As they begin to part, there will be a lessening of emotional intensity. But the bonds they've encouraged will stay strong. Feelings need room to explore... and with Mercury (communication) entering sensitive Pisces, honest sharing leads to greater depths of understanding.
