Emperor Charles

I was going to write about Prince Charles' birthday, and had to remind myself that it's King Charles! Historically, the distinction between 'Prince' and 'King' used to be about the authority to control empires. These days, with titles more ceremonial than political, the difference is more subtle. Yet the names we give things remain powerful. As Mercury links with Pluto and Jupiter, by reconsidering the way we package problems, and stepping into our power, difficult situations can be transformed.

Autumn Timing

Later this week, the UK government delivers its 'Autumn Statement' and attempts to reverse the chaos caused by its September 'mini budget'. In some ways (astrologically at least) I wish it was coming sooner! Today, as Venus and Jupiter (money and wealth) harmonise, the cosmos encourages us to make wise decisions that lead to investments growing and maturing, whereas the coming Mars/Neptune link brings unrealistic desires and temptation to the fore. Let's hope the legacy of today's alignment lingers!

A Curious Mind

Although tolerance is considered to be a virtue, just putting up with things because we don't have the energy to change them is less than ideal. Yet sometimes, when we summon the courage to learn more about the situations and people we find difficult, we make surprising discoveries that lead to appreciation - or find the motivation to instigate change. Over the next few days, as first Venus and then Mercury enter Sagittarius, with a curious mind and an open heart, we can uncover something new to love.

Fast Technology

The computer mouse was patented today in 1970, but it was Apple's 1983 'Lisa' computer that popularised its use. Now, thanks to touchscreen technology, the future of this simple device is looking less bright. It took thousands of years to go from scythe to combine harvester but these days fundamental technological tools come and go in the blink of an eye. It's hard to keep up! The Sun's involvement with Pluto and Jupiter ensures a necessary transformation will be easier than we think.

Children in Need

It's 'Children In Need', the BBC's charity appeal for disadvantaged children. Since 1985 its logo has featured 'Pudsey' - a teddy bear with a bandaged eye. But today is also the anniversary of toymaker Morris Michton's 'Teddy Bear' - named after President Theodore Roosevelt. Since Children In Need happens every November, the imagery suggests these events are linked. But, as retrograde Mars and Neptune link, we can't make assumptions. This weekend, it pays to look beyond superficial impressions.

Your Weekly Horoscope

For International Men's Day, guys often grow moustaches for charity. But although their chosen organisations appreciate the gesture, their partners often aren't quite so keen! As Jupiter changes direction while tantalisingly close to Neptune this week, uncontrolled growth could easily become problematic. But the Mars/Neptune link helps us not to get too distracted by superficialities. And the New Moon promises that as long as our intentions are good, efforts made now will have lasting, positive benefits.
