Monopoly

At the start of a game of Monopoly, I'm keen to take my turn and advance forwards. But as the board fills up with houses and hotels, I start to dread my move. Instead, the fun comes from watching the other players roll the dice and land on one of my properties! As retrograde Mercury aligns with Mars again today, there's no fear of going round in exasperating circles. This is a chance to reconsider our motives re future progress. Even if passing Go is risky, moving forwards will be fun.

When accepting his first Tony Award after a long and illustrious career, the great Baltimore stage actor Andre de Shields told the audience that 'slowly is the fastest way to get where you want to be'. The Sun and Saturn's alignment might not be up for any accolades today, but it seems to be keen on delivering the same message. Important work can be accomplished and key targets can be met. Just remember to sing, dance or do whatever you do that ensures you have fun along the way.

People are concerned about the implications of artificial intelligence. But while students, worrying about deadlines, might be tempted to use ChatGPT's essay-drafting potential, there's a long way to go before robots enslave humanity! AI might change how we interface with data, but it's incapable of helping us with simple physical things - like plugging in our computers. Following the Sun/Saturn link, the more practical our approach, the greater the chance of creating rewarding results.

Mary Wollstonecraft (whose birthday is today) is regarded as one of the founding feminist philosophers. She lived in an era when the idea of treating men and women as equals was still controversial. Although we live in more enlightened times, we still have a long way to go before the freedom of spirit she dreamt of becomes reality. Today, as Venus and Mars both flirt with Uranus, change is on the agenda. The quicker we get on with creating a new storyline, the sooner we'll appreciate its effects.

Yesterday we talked about the need to get on board with the process of change. This weekend, as Mars and Uranus align, even birthday boy Ferruccio Lamborghini would look up from his car blueprints and take note. It's time to embrace new processes. When attempting to break from the past, we often rail against old systems. But the best way to make revolutionary discoveries is to focus on the new, exciting and different. By investing energy here and now, we can begin building a better future.

Your May Monthly Horoscope

As 'Jumping Jack Flash' Jupiter enters Taurus in mid-May, an adventurous spirit will sweep through our routines and daily habits all month. It's enough to get the steadiest of Eddies flying like Eddie the Eagle! But with Pluto and Mercury both retrograde in early May, and the Coronation Eclipse opposing rebellious Uranus, crosswinds might affect take-offs. Luckily, the New Moon's supportive Cosmic Cradle will calm any turbulence and ensure our journeying ends with a successful landing.
