PREVIOUS THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY

May 22 2023 to May 28 2023

Monday May 22

Sherlock Holmes

We like the idea of solving mysteries. Following Pluto's links with the Sun, Mars and Jupiter, our inner sleuths might well be dusting off their magnifying glasses, like Conan Doyle fans celebrating Sherlock Holmes Day today. Yet there's no need to search for clues about what action to take: the information we need isn't just elementary; it's elemental! As the newly Gemini Sun aligns with dynamic Mars, when cool heads and fiery hearts find common ground, burning questions can be answered.

Best Laid Plans

Dear Oscar,
Recently, you talked about busy people getting things done because they're so active they don't notice extra tasks. But I think they achieve more because busy people have to be more organised! What do you reckon? Ken

Dear Ken, You may well be right. But sometimes I realise I'm too busy precisely because I haven't got myself organised! Under today's Mars/Jupiter link there's a lot competing for our attention. But, as long as we deploy our resources intelligently, we can cope. Phew, Oscar

Perspective

'Behind every beautiful thing there's been some kind of pain', sang Bob Dylan. As the Sun/Venus alignment peaks on his birthday, this lyric is highly appropriate. This relationship between the planets of love and heroism isn't new; it's been building since mid-May, and will continue to affect our emotions with a longevity befitting Bob's creative output, giving us the courage to strive for love despite our hurts. As Dylan also wrote: 'what looks large from a distance, close-up ain't never that big'.

Eurovision

As the UK's performance at Eurovision proved, one moment you're hosting a triumph of a ceremony and riding high on a wave of love (as Sam did in 2022) when, suddenly, like a spaceman coming home, you're brought back down to earth with a bang. Success is a difficult quality to replicate. And, when it comes to the emotional rollercoaster of life, triumphs are equally hard to predict. Yet we'd all vote for an emotional breakthrough. And, as Venus prepares to link with Uranus, that's what the sky has in store.

Energy Sapping

One hundred years ago, the first Le Mans endurance race took place over 24 hours. Since it's also the anniversary of the publication of Dracula, is this going to be an energy-sapping weekend? With bank holidays in both the UK and the US, there's bound to be plenty of nocturnal activity! But, although Saturn's alignments demand commitment, they indicate that enjoyment needn't be overshadowed by recovery processes. Not only is there fun to be had, but it can lead to sustainable new ways to appreciate life.

Your June Monthly Horoscope

More Sally Fisher Art here.

As we move towards the Solstice (one of the most powerful celestial events of the year), June holds the potential to be the time for creative, life-changing improvements. With insight and enthusiasm, we can surprise ourselves with our ability to face challenges and deal with them before they become too problematic. As Pluto returns to Capricorn and Saturn moves retrograde, even steps that seem backwards add perspective. They lead to information that can improve situations (both materially and emotionally).
