PREVIOUS THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY

Monday July 17
Saxe-Coburg-Gotha
Today in 1917 the Royals changed their surname from Saxe-Coburg-Gotha to Windsor. And Queen Consort Camilla (who has also just had a change of name) turns 76 today. It can't be easy to know what to buy her for her birthday! Under the New Moon, and with Mercury (intellect) linking with Jupiter and Neptune, sensitive communication is the order of the day. We don't need to be celebrating an anniversary to be encouraged to be sensitive to people's emotions. That's the meaningful gift that keeps on giving.

Lunar Legacy
The legacy of the New Moon encourages us to explore different ways of looking at our life goals and ambitions. Sometimes, we do things because they're expected of us. Sometimes, we pursue objectives even though we know, in our hearts, that they won't fulfil us. This is an opportunity to reconnect with our innermost feelings and choose a path forward that leads to greater satisfaction. Ignoring our soul's voice causes it to grow more demanding. So it's a great opportunity to take life-enhancing action.

Screen Sorcery
Every minute a movie star like birthday boy Benedict Cumberbatch is on screen takes days of planning, preparation, shooting and editing. The impressionist Edgar Degas claimed 'Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.' So even though the approaching Mars-Saturn link suggests hard effort (rather than glamorous work) the results can be drama-filled and exciting. It's time to focus on behind-the-scenes endeavours. The results of this effort can be visionary, and inspiring.

One Small Step
Today in 1969 is the day when viewers in the US saw humans first step onto the Moon. While I'm too young to have watched the grainy images live, it wasn't this aspect of that pioneering trip that fascinated me. As a kid, I was curious about how they left the lunar surface without a rocket to launch them home! As Venus prepares to turn retrograde, return journeys are a dominant theme. Taking the right step backwards is worth more than walking a mile in the wrong direction.

Friday July 21
Comic Con
Comic Con used to be the domain of nerdy kids in glasses (just like I used to be (still am!)). Now that superheroes are big box office draws, you'll find a far more inclusive audience at Marvel's event in San Diego today. No matter how much money and glamour is involved, it's the stories the fans connect with. Whether the action is set in space, or a world where magic is possible, compassion, generosity and inspiration weave through the storylines. This weekend, we can embody those ideals.

Your Weekly Horoscope
When pilots fly through clouds they rely on their instruments. This week, as Venus turns retrograde, whilst free-roaming Jupiter and illusory Neptune align, we'll all wish we had an emotional compass to consult. Fortunately, Mercury's link with Venus helps us navigate through any emotional confusion. We're often told to trust our hearts when our heads can't make sense of things. But this week, it's by taking a logical look at drama-packed situations that we can chart routes to harmonious solutions.
