PREVIOUS THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY

December 11 2023 to December 17 2023

Monday December 11

Mountains

On International Mountains Day, it's interesting to note that the UK's highest peak, Ben Nevis, only has a 4.8 rating on Google Maps. Why are people marking it down? Bad coffee? Poor Wi-Fi? Maybe they're making mountains out of molehills! The Venus/Mercury/Jupiter alignment indicates that affairs of the heart loom large. But no matter how steep the climb we face, we've got cosmic encouragement. "The journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step". Significant progress is possible today.

Tuesday December 12

Good COP Bad COP

As COP28 draws to a close, world leaders are still trying to work out how to balance our energy demands with the needs of the planet. And with Mercury about to turn retrograde, there's a chance promises made today will be back on the drawing board tomorrow. But the New Moon in Sagittarius is encouraging: relooking at long-term projects will lead to new insights. By addressing the bigger picture in our own lives, we can find ways to take individual actions that improve the future of our world.

Wednesday December 13

Swift Party

Happy Birthday Taylor Swift! As one of the world's most famous Sagittarians, she reflects this sign's reputation for having a happy-go-lucky, inspiring attitude. When faced with disappointment, if anyone can 'shake it off' Sagittarians can! As Mercury turns retrograde following the New Moon, the cosmos invites us all to tap into these qualities and approach challenges with fresh perspective. By being sensitive to our own needs, and sharing our concerns, we can all find an appreciative audience today.

Thursday December 14

Penguin Hit Squad

When I depart planet Earth, I'd like to be memorialised on a park bench. The idea of my plaque stating that I was 'killed by penguins' makes me smile. Imagine the intrigue this would cause as people ponder how anyone could be taken down by those cute little tuxedo-waddlers! Yet I just found out that prehistoric human-sized penguin bones have been discovered. That puts a different slant on the proceedings! With Mercury retrograde, new information will challenge perspectives we've long thought unalterable.

Friday December 15

Remote Party

It's office Christmas party season, when the disadvantages of remote working are laid bare. Surely, it's impossible to let off steam via Zoom? Do people provide their own drinks and snacks? And, when it all gets a bit 'bleary', sit on their own printers and email copies of their rear ends to their colleagues? It's a scary thought! This weekend, as the Sun and Neptune align, it will be easy to get swept up in the moment and become slightly 'over-exuberant'. Fortunately, forgiveness will be easy to come by.

Saturday December 16

Your Weekly Horoscope

It's the 250th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party, when protestors threw British tea shipments into the harbour and kickstarted the American Revolution. And since no tea party is complete without biscuits, maybe renaming them cookies was a clever trick to prevent their destruction! This week, as Venus opposes Uranus, even apparent acts of sabotage, or wasted resources, can be catalysts for valuable change. The Solstice highlights ways to make progress, without having to throw anything valuable overboard.
