So when does the real recovery begin? According to long-range
astrological forecasters, it should start in 2004 and get
going properly in 2005. The next 'peak of prosperity' is in
2008 or 2009.

Reader Anthony Carvell wrote to ask for investment
advice. It seems that quite a few of you are interested in
matching planetary movements to the stock markets. Most of
the work in this field is done by American astrologers, but
there are a handful of British astrologers who work with the
City as well. The most popular theories involve Mars. When
Mars opposes Jupiter, as it did yesterday, it tends to send
the market downwards, or so the research suggests. In a few
days Mars will also conjoin Neptune, which is similarly bad
news. And just for good measure, Mars opposes Jupiter twice
more this year, in September and in November, so it seems
like a series of downward steps, doesn't it?
Mars is also in reverse for much of the summer, which is yet
another factor noted for sending markets downwards. The peak
of the market, if that's the right word, should be in late
July, and the bottom around September 20, after which it should
pick up a little, though it will stumble again in November.
A few weeks ago I noted that Uranus in Pisces, as it is now,
had in the past been matched by financial depressions. For
the last few months of this year, Uranus will sneak back into
Aquarius, just to have a last look round. A time for a little
surge in the markets? Possibly, but beware that November wobble.
Quit while you're ahead.
